Step into the magical, enchanted forest at Van Dusen’s Glow in the Garden Event from October 24th through to October 31st, 2016 and you just might run across pumpkin carvers Clive Cooper and Bruce Waugh offering some demos (at least on Thursday Oct 27th and Sunday Oct 30th). Lots of media sharing the love as well. Hopefully the link below leads to the October 24th news, and if you drag the button at the bottom of the video to 32.50 seconds, you’ll catch a quick clip of Clive in action.
Clive creates his 2nd Pumpkin Carving of a Panda. Little bigger than the first Panda Pumpkin, but every bit as cute!
Here’s another pumpkin carving by Clive that I really liked entitle “Demon Pumpkin”. Somehow, this one escaped media attention too, along with his Papau New Guinea Shaman. Guess it just goes to show, art is subjective! What’s your fave?
Clive thought he’d try his hand at carving a yam (sweet potato). Just a quick study to test out this medium. I’ve entitled it “I Yam What I Am” and it will probably become tomorrow nights dinner!
Well, we’ve just started a Youtube Channel to feature Clive’s carvings – called Clive Cooper Carvings, naturally. Let’s see if his video goes viral like the image did!
Special thanks to our dear friend Domenico Cutrupi!
You can view the alligator watermelon carving video and more videos in the future at this link:
Interest in Clive’s recent Alligator watermelon carving is growing like wildfire on the web I see. Check out more of his images under the watermelon and pumpkin sections of the site.
**You are free to add images to your site or blog, but only if you credit them to Clive Cooper
and put our website link beside them: www.sparksflydesign.com**
Watch Clive being interviewed on Global BC TV’s News Hour Final by the lovely Anne Drewa and Squire Barnes about his Extreme Pumpkin Carving!
Clive also was featured on the Weather Network several times on October 30th and 31st. Oga Nwobosi of the Weather Network had called us and send Camera man, Caaleb Trott to our house to film the segment.
Clive carves a “Demon Pumpkin” on October 16th. Love the horns and ears! On the 18th, Dickson Tong, a reporter from the Ming Pao Daily News interviewed Clive – so you’ll see an article and some of his carvings in their paper on October 21st. It will be a full page spread.

This has to be one of my favorite watermelon carvings Clive has done. I think it’s really whimsical. How many Samurai Warrior watermelons have you seen lately? Click on the photo to enter the Watermelon Carving gallery and check out his pumpkin carvings while you are on the site as well.
Let’s do a quick recap of Clive’s carving in the past year or so since we started the site – he’s been on Global BC TV demonstrating his carving skills, at the Food & Sustenance Fair and carved with the big guys at Metrotown’s Monster Pumpkin show, to name a few of my fave moments. To keep his name out there on the web, seems we have to do a lot of this blah, blahing, so forgive us if we’ve repeated ourselves a blog or two. Anyway, hope you enjoy the site!
Here’s Clive newest extreme watermelon carving entitled “Baboon Watermelon”
