Check out Clive being interviewed by Jiggy TV Host, Julia Rhodes. Julia and Domenico Cutrupi, Director/Producer/Video Supervisor, did a fantastic job of putting this pumpkin carving video together!
And here’s a nice photo of Domenico, Julia and Clive just before the filming began.
Haven’t come up with a title for this carving yet. Any suggestions? I can see Clive improving every time he carves and I think this extreme pumpkin creature is his most awesome yet.
Clive created this carving for the folks at Jiggy TV.
Clive slips in a few final watermelon carvings before pumpkin season begins. This one’s entitled “Sun Damage”. This is what happens with too much exposure to the sun; a fervent desire to carve watermelons!
Let’s do a quick recap of Clive’s carving in the past year or so since we started the site – he’s been on Global BC TV demonstrating his carving skills, at the Food & Sustenance Fair and carved with the big guys at Metrotown’s Monster Pumpkin show, to name a few of my fave moments. To keep his name out there on the web, seems we have to do a lot of this blah, blahing, so forgive us if we’ve repeated ourselves a blog or two. Anyway, hope you enjoy the site!
Clive did his thing at Metrotown Mall today with fellow carvers Bruce Waugh, Craig Mutch, David Billings, Fred Dobbs and other professional carvers. Being fairly new to the game, this is the first time he has ever carved such a large pumpkin (about 160lbs) and in such a short time. This event was aired on CTV News late this evening, and imagine there’s more footage yet to come - in time for Halloween, as there were plenty of news cameras focused on the carvers. Stay tuned!
There seems to be a lot of media web activity surrounding this event as well. Here’s what I’ve found so far:
From October 16th to 30th, Sandemons Sand Sculpture Company is hosting a pumpkin carving demonstration and display at “Metropolis” at Metrotown Courtyard, in Burnaby. Notable carvers David Billings, Fred Dobbs, Bruce Waugh, Craig Mutch and Roger Chaisson will be carving Atlantic Giant Pumpkins ranging in size from 50 to 1000 lbs. On October 30th, Clive will join 10 additional carvers (TBA) at this event.
Amongst other things, Clive will be demonstrating his amazing carving skills in October at the Roundhouse, at their annual “Sustenance Feasting on Art & Cultural Festival.” For more information on this event, take a look at their downloadable program guide (page 12) at: http://www.roundhouse.ca/
Looks like Clive’s calendar is filling up fast with requests for his extreme pumpkin carvings. A number of venues and individuals are asking him to demonstrate his skills at various events. If only Halloween had more days! As mentioned below, he is booked for the Roundhouse on October 16th and other events are currently being finalized. Make sure to check back to our site for updates. Also, I’ve added some fine art to the site. Works by my Mom and sister Janine Smith. They do a lot of art shows, so if you are ever interested in seeing their oil paintings, pastels and watercolours, click the contact us button on site. You’ll find these works under the Art & Design section of our site / Fine Art.
